Revised Demon (sketch)
Here's a demon i drew awhile ago, i thought i was gonna submit to a magazine or some sort of contest but things didn't work out. Anyway this is NOT the version i was gonna submit, but here i'm just messing around with marker and trying to figure out the contours from my messy lines. Check back later for the Cleaned Up version.

NIGHT
A shot of an old cemetary. It's on hilly ground and the headstones and masoleums are crowded close together like the graveyards out in Brooklyn. There's a couple of guys digging up a grave on a hilltop under a gnarled tree. This would be right out of James Whale but there's the skyline of Gotham in the background. A pall of vapor rises from the grave.
CAPTION: "HE'S A PROBLEM FOR THE CITY NOW.
ROBBER 1: HOLD THE LIGHT HIGHER. I HIT THE VAULT.
ROBBER 2: I HATE THESE CONCRETE BOXES.
PANEL TWO
The robbers are in leather and wear ghastly face paint like voodoo priests. They work with shovels in the grave. A mist rises from the grave. One smiles at the other. The other makes a "yuck" face.
ROBBER 1: SEE THAT FOG? THIS ONE'S FRESH.
ROBBER 2; SO I SMELT. LET'S POP THE TOP AND GET THIS OVER WITH.
PANEL THREE
ROBBER 2: YOU HEAR SOMETHING?
ROBBER 1: YEAH. THE FOLDING MONEY THOSE JERKS ARE GONNA PAY US.

Inoue Takeheiko Last Manga Exhibition
I visited Tokyo over summer and i managed to catch a glimpse of my favourite manga artist, Inoue Takeheiko exhibition! It was very inspiring, after seeing his original pages, with the pencil drafts, inks, and his gianormous Sumi Ink paintings! I was totally blown away!!! It made me realise i have a very long way to go as a comic book artist!

Old Master's Copy: Rembrandt: Girl at the Window
Here's my final project for my head drawing class, we were told to copy a Rembrandt painting. I picked this painting because the other portraits that he painted were dress with the clown ruffles stuff, and i also wanted to challenge myself with painting children. The facial structure of children are not as defined as adults. I spent about 30 to 40 hours on this painting.

羅剎島 Last Page
羅剎島 pg. 8
The Raksasa Island 羅剎島
Here's a story that i picked up to illustrate in comics, i read this story in a Chinese book on mystical creatures and legends. So here is a background story and a rough translation of the story.
A Rakshasa is a demon or unrighteous spirit in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. They are also called man-eaters or cannibals.
The appearance of these demons can vary, long arms, fearful shapes, some were fat, and other was thin, drafts, exceedingly tall. Some had one eye and one ear. Some had the heads of donkey; some had head of horses and elephants. They appear black as soot, with hair yellow as lightning, looking like a thundercloud. Formidable tusks, flaming hair and insatiable hunger. Usually live in forests, catching animals and eating them.
A female Rakshasa is called a rakshasi, and they can disguise as beautiful woman. Both male and females are shape shifters, illusionists, and magicians.
So the story goes, there were 500 merchants went to sea, they encountered a huge storm and their ship sank to the bottom of the sea. All of the 500 merchants swam to an island near by. And that island is actually Rakshasi lived, those demons disguised as beautiful women, who wore beautiful clothes and jewelry, they bathed in scented water. Once the demons found out that there were visitors, they all rushed to the shore and greeted the 500 surviving merchants. With their sweet words, seduction, and even requested to marry the merchants and have family with them. The merchants couldn’t resist the offer and seduction the rakshasi brought them into their city of coz the merchant doesn’t know what kind of stuff are they getting into.
The city was filled with beautiful architectures, lots of amazing scenery. But the women told the men not to approach the south of the island and apparently that area is cursed. A curious merchant begins to question. So he took off to the south in the middle of the night, when his demon wife was asleep. On his way to the south he heard moaning and screams, he followed the sound and came upon another city surrounded by high walls. So the merchant climbed onto a tree, which was near the high walls. He saw the city was filled corpses, and the stench of decomposing flesh got to him. Some of the corpses were not complete, some only had the top half of the body, and some were still alive. One of the men noticed the merchant on the tree and warned him about the women were actually demons. And that is their doing, the dying men explained what happened to them and told the merchant to go back and warn the others and about how to escape from the island.
The method to escape is on every April 15, a huge flying horse will fly above the island, and the merchants took the dying men’s advice and left the island.
Here's the first page of the story i have about 9 pages in total but i'm still working on the pages in the middle.

Ryuk from Death Note
This is Ryuk, he's a death god from Death Note the manga. pretty cool character design, it has some Japanese demons characteristics mixed with some Western monterish-ness!
This is a huge pain, this whole image is painted with Dots, lots and lots of freaking Dots! This is called optic mix, all of these colors used is straight out of the tube. They're place right next to each other, so from a distance your eye automatically mix the two colors together! This is called Optic Mix. This painting took me about 30 hours plus!!!

Children of the Damned
This is one of my favourite drawing, we were given a passage to illustrate we had 2 choices, one is Snow White and second one is Zombie Kids. And of coz i chose the zombie kids. So the sotry goes there was a car accident, a teacher was on a school bus after the crash she got off the bus, and while she was still dizzy and stuff she avoid a decaying thing, then she saw her students' corpses were scattered around lying lifelessly, and the next moment, they all got up and started walking towards her. So I chose to illustrate party when the students are walking towards her, without the school bus.
Everything here is in perspective, shadows, reflections, the characters and so on.

CAPAS mural
Here is something older, i did this mural in college for a student organization called Center for Asian Pacific American Students, aka CAPAS
The dragons actually spells CAPAS! There are some philosophy behind it, about elements and the quality of the 2 elements here! But i kinda forgot what it's all about! I was also inspired by the Japanese Woodblock print by Hokusai, hence the waves. This was the first time for me to work so big, and i wish i had more time to get more detail in but hey! S*it happens
This mural took me about a month and a half! with about 2 weeks of rain!
